Hi, I’m Sean Elliott — a food lover, military veteran, and proud Wyoming resident. Welcome to Wyo Food.
I wasn’t born into a foodie family. Growing up in St. Louis, food was fuel — nothing more. But joining the military in 2011 changed that. Over the next several years I found myself living in San Antonio, Omaha, Denver, and Washington D.C., and with each new city came new flavors, new restaurants, and a growing curiosity about what great food could actually be. The world was expanding my palate whether I was ready for it or not.
The biggest spark came from my wife, Kimi. She is a fantastic cook and my greatest inspiration in the kitchen — the person who showed me that food isn’t just something you eat, it’s something you experience. Together we’ve built a life around that love.
How We Found Wyoming
The first time I saw the mountains out here, something clicked. I knew this was where I wanted to grow up and put down roots. When Kimi and I completed our military service, there was no debate about where we were headed. We moved to Wyoming in 2022 and haven’t looked back since.
Since then we’ve been anchoring ourselves in western life and loving every minute of it. Wyoming has surprised us at every turn — and one of the things people don’t talk about enough is its location. Drive two or three hours in any direction and you’ll land at a world-class family destination. This state is the perfect home base for life out west.
What I Love to Cook
Mexican food is my comfort food — tacos, burritos, nachos, you name it. If there’s a tortilla involved, I’m in. I also have a deep love for Mediterranean food: gyros, falafel, big bold flavors built from simple ingredients.
But one of my greatest joys in the kitchen is cooking wild game. Deer, antelope, moose, elk — these animals have lived natural lives on wild land, and that shows up in the meat. It’s rich in protein, deeply flavorful, and some of the most satisfying cooking I’ve ever done. Wyoming gives us direct access to ingredients you simply can’t find anywhere else, and I take that seriously.
Why Wyo Food Exists
Most people think of Wyoming and picture Yellowstone or the Tetons. And yes — the natural beauty here is unmatched. But there is so much more to this state than its national parks.
The people here are kind. The restaurants are fantastic. The wildlife is abundant. And the food — from ranch kitchens to local diners to backyard grills — is genuinely delicious. Wyoming has an old west charm and a food culture that deserves to be celebrated, not overlooked.
Wyo Food exists to change the way people think about this state. To show that Wyoming is more than the place above Colorado on a map. To share the recipes, the restaurants, the stories, and the ingredients that make life here so good.
Pull up a chair. There’s always room at the table.
